The future will be feminine

For the Commission on the Coordination of Women's Legal and Social Work 2023 (CSW 67) which is taking place right now, one of the main objectives is to explore alternatives to improve the conditions of women in innovation issues.

How is it that the digital era will drive gender equity when there are still many inequality gaps, especially in our Latin American region and its context? Yes, it is possible and it is part of the tools towards a much more positive future. The decisions we make and manage today will set a precedent in the integration of initiatives and businesses from a feminist perspective.

In recent years we have had the opportunity to work hand in hand with several organizations on issues related to the future and sustainability of our planet. Particularly highlighted has been the need to make visible and promote the work of women in the rural sector and we have found nothing more innovative and sustainable than their work.

Data from the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development / Mexico for 2022 indicate that there are almost 840,000 women working in agricultural processes and activities in our country, this work also means unpaid employment, because the work of a rural woman is also to be the mother of the family, to be responsible for the care of the house and land, very implicit in that role.

"HOW DO WE BUILD RESILIENCE AND DRIVE GIRLS' AND WOMEN'S EMPOWERMENT IN THE AGRIBUSINESS SECTOR IF OUR SOCIAL NORMS LIMIT THEIR PARTICIPATION?"

Naturally, women work, educate, communicate and accompany in COMMUNITY, activate processes and generate strategies for the common good and from the protection of their territories (those of the community and their own bodies). These actions also mean INNOVATION, so it is obvious to assume that the work that women have already done in the rural sector is more than sustainable and generates results. The challenge now is to promote participation, but... how prepared are we to promote the productive projects of women and girls?

This year's United Nations CSW 67 will occupy an agenda to explore the entire digital ecosystem and the benefits of women's participation in technology and innovation, it will be beneficial to identify that innovation processes also exist in the struggle for AUTONOMY and safeguarding of territories for the loving production of food by rural women in Latin America.
