Traditional organic coffee in the heart of the isthmus

The Union of Indigenous Communities of the Isthmus of Tehuantepec, Oaxaca. Mx, is an organization of 1,600 coffee and cocoa producing members that prides itself on producing high quality organic coffee, respecting the land and traditions of the Isthmus region. Since its founding in 1982 and the participation of 17 coffee growing communities, the organization has promoted: fair trade and environmental conservation to strengthen the sustainability and autonomy of the rich coffee growing region.

Our challenge consisted in developing a new visual discourse based on a symbol already positioned in the organization, we recognized its great identity value and also its positioning in the entire region, as a bastion of the best coffee production in the community.Ā 

We designed a complete brand identity and marketing strategy for UCIRI, through the creation of a verbal and visual discourse that highlights the brand's values and enhances the commercialization of organic and specialty coffee.Ā 

We have collaborated closely with the cooperative in learning activities. These activities allow entrepreneurs to engage in strategic planning, adopt innovative methodologies and strengthen their businesses through a digital marketing plan and visibility strategies. In this way, strong connections are established between the community and new audiences, contributing to the sustainable growth of organic coffee in this rich region.

Identity value

Today, UCIRI is a reference in the production of high quality organic coffee, and this should be reflected in the discourse to new and permanent audiences, without forgetting the great cultural and ancestral load of the region.Ā 

The main features to highlight would be: The family and if IstmeƱa entity, sustainable cultivation, care for the land and the tradition of a coffee growing town.

The community has also wanted to see this reflected in each of the messages, so we have taken the opportunity to present to the world the pride of the identity of each family, its richness and diversity through a color palette nourished with all this flavor and character. - The istmeƱo is strong, happy, familiar and proud of his tradition.

+ This project is part of the Restoration of Emblematic Landscapes in Oaxaca and Chiapas, under the direction of Conservation International Mexico, and seeks to implement restoration actions that contribute to increasing socio-environmental resilience and strengthening local environmental governance for the conservation of biological and productive diversity, the reduction of emissions from deforestation and the maintenance of biological connectivity.
